Children nowadays are often brought up by digital devices which make them become digital natives. In order to raise our next generation digital leaders, it is important to equip them with not only digital literacy but also the disposition which allow them to contribute to the community. As part of a large scale 5-year longitudinal study on Learning and Assessment of Digital Citizenship, a series of courses namely ‘Digital Citizenship: Smarter Online’ was created to support such development. It comprises of five individual courses: 1) Smart collaboration: a role-play game designed to enhance students collaborative problem solving skills 2) Smart planning: allow students to reflect and self-regulate the use of digital devices through digital wearables 3) Smarter learning (with VR): enhance students communication in VR environment through facial expressions 4) Green creativity: an online course which teaches basic block coding language using App Inventor 5) Cyberwellness: equip students with knowledge and skill of how to identify and solve cyberbullying issues
The courses have different teaching objectives and in different designs which allow flexibility for teachers and parents to accommodate their needs. The courses are suitable for students at different stages ranging from primary 3 to secondary 4. The speaker will describe more about the details and enrolment method in the sharing. Small demonstrations of some of the materials will also be available.
